The Franciscan Labyrinth at Pearl Cove!

Above is a video of the future site of the Labyrinth recently installed.  Below are two shots from a different angle.
So the text seems to want to rest between these two pictures so I suppose that will do for this post :0)  This whole trip to Kauai this time was very impactful on several levels.  It has now been over five years since Sherita's Passing over and four years since the family memorial on this spot at her request.  This trip was planned by Veronica and was the first long distance vacation for her little family including Luther at a little over 24 months as well as her new son or daughter along for the ride.  It was iffy as to whether she could fly or not, at six months along, but all worked out.  I am glad to have been able to spend a few hours most days at this site above to get a start on this labyrinth.  I am thankful for my family's understanding.  Michael and Alexandria are both married now.  Michael and Gary were here even though Gary was recuporating from surgery, I appreciate that touch very much.  Alex has just started a new job and was unable to come except in spirit.  It was a bit sureal trying to honor the past at the same time being an active part of the current family dynamics.  I believe that overall it was a great time for all.  The age as well as the simplicity of this island really does make it feel like home to me.
A little about this Labyrinth installation.  The picture below does not really do the idea justice.  We do need many more rocks added to complete the effect but the path is pretty clear although hard to see from this angle.  The center is that evergreen and succulent cluster which is about 50 feet from the bluffs edge at Pearl Cove.  Within the leeward side of the cluster I planted a "Kauai Hybiscus" as a focal point in the future.  The walking path enters from the West point (upper left of the picture).  It is a seven circuit path of the same style as the Franciscan Labyrinth at Camp David but somewhat smaller as there are no trees to accomodate.  On my final trip out there this trip I placed a "note in a bottle" on a sheltered rock down in the cove.  The note explains the purpose and intention of the memorial along with a request to add a stone or two if so inclined.  We'll see if the Menehunes are still alive and well in Hawaii :0)  Pax Christi RV
