Pearl Cove reprise!

Been home in the Rogue Valley a couple of weeks now.  This spot as well is a very special spot of Creation, the "first Bible" as Richard among others have stated.  I am very blessed to have this area as a home as well as to have a heart home in Kauai as well.  Don't really think I'll end up living over there part time but who knows??  On this post I'm going to attempt to insert a video I shot of Pearl on my last day there.  It will show Michaels Cross as well as the succulent and evergreen center of the potential Labyrinth.  In my Western Garden book on the opening page is a dedication by Sherita when she gave it to me in 2002.  That dedication is something I have told Michael that I would like as a memory sentiment in my passing.  Hence I'm including it here, again let me hasten to add that I'm in No hurry for this event.

Well, for whatever reason I couldn't post the video but put these two on here instead.  I was able to post the video on facebook but blogger wouldn't accept :0(.  Great trip!  Thanks Son!  RV

The Pilgrimage Continues!

The Pilgrimage  Days Four Through  Ten!

Not that a “reason” is necessary for a trip to Kauai but I wish to relate a bit of the spiritual aspects of this trip.  Obviously I haven’t been posting on here daily but I have been reflecting and reasoning a lot while here.  Sometimes with Michael and sometimes on my own.
Michael and I visited the Hawaiian Hindu Monastery a couple of times.  The liturgy was new to us but the Peace and Respect of the place was palpable and very satisfying.  Probably the most significant thing I experienced while there was to appreciate the prayer and chanting but especially the portrayal of the God “Shiva” in a dancing mode.  I found it rather interesting to reflect as well upon the word used in the Greek to represent  the Christian Trinitarian God, “Pericohesis”.  The word is best translated as a “circle dance”  as in all aspects of God whirling about in community activity to the Love and betterment of all.
I’ve not made any secret to my kids that when it is my time to move on that I would like to have my remains scattered on Mahaulapu at Pearl Cove.  Not that I’m in a big hurry but this is very much the most special place on Kauai for me.  While there this time I was blessed by Michael breaking his walking stick and fabricating and setting a  cross in her honor on the rocks above Pearl Cove.  The elements may not let it stay there but the sentiment will last forever.  When ever I visit and then leave that spot That lump comes back to visit my heart and soul.  Feels sad but also alive and connected.  I believe that if I ever do remarry that it will take place at that spot.  Sounds strange, I know, but it’s not and if that big IF did occur She would understand perfectly and our union would be stronger for the experience.    When I went back for a last visit yesterday I started laying out a limestone path for a labyrinth just above Sherita’s spot.  Lord willing I’ll finish it up in October.
In between these special spiritual moments Michael and I walked a couple of “Knarly” hikes through the wild areas of Kauai.  One was what’s called the “Powerline” trail.  Ten plus miles from above Kapa’a Northwest to near Princeville.  Took a lot longer that we thought but it was a good “Adventure” .  We did scrap the idea of camping at Anini on the North shore and found a extra night in the resort area we were checking into on Saturday.  That shower felt really, really good.  The second hike was supposed to be following a horse trail to Kipu Kai Beach.  It was more of a goat trail and got pretty dangerous for the ol man in several spots.  I was very happy to have Michael with me on these two adventures.  Thanks! Son!
Since the second hike was starting near Pearl Cove I suppose one could draw a blessing from the proximity.  Kind of like accepting the Wild And Wondrous sides of creation.  It is that way for me.
